Call for journalists

InTER_CBS_06.jpg Journalists reporting in Serbian language in Kosovo are invited to apply for participation in a training programme in investigative journalism.

The program includes a series of one-day and two-way workshops on the following topics: the technique of writing newspaper articles; reporting on economic development; techniques of investigative journalism and techniques of presentation of research.

Potential candidates should fulfil the following criteria:

•    Minimum two years of experience in journalism (journalists from the media in Kosovo or freelance journalists);
•    Ready to have several months of engagement involving a set of trainings and work on their own research story;
•    Women and other marginalized groups are especially encouraged to apply for participation in the programme.

Candidates who pass the selection process will have the opportunity to improve their research and journalistic skills in the work with experienced media workers from the region (BIRN and PG Network). After the training programs with trainers, participants will work on their own stories for which there is a monetary compensation. Articles will be published on www.crnobelisvet.com as well as on the websites of participating media.

During the application for the program, it is necessary to send a CV (up to one page), a motivation letter (up to one page) and a proposal for a research topic (up to one paragraph) at office@crnobelisvet.com. Interested candidates should apply for participation in the program no later than August 19, 2018. Applications sent after this deadline will not be considered.

When proposing the story they want to research, candidates should give priority to the following topics:

•    Brussels Agreement and its impact on the population;
•    Economic development and employment;
•    Effects of donor investments;
•    Transparency of local self-government’ work;
•    Other topics relevant for transition processes in the Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo.

Initial topics will be further defined in the course of the programme in cooperation with trainers and in accordance with the interests and needs of the participants.

The program is implemented by Crno beli svet (CBS) and the Institute for Territorial Economic Development (InTER) within the project "Development of investigative journalism among journalists reporting in Serbian language in Kosovo".
