Release date: 23.10.2013.
The International Conference “10 Years of Slovak Aid: a Vision of Development Cooperation for a Changing World” held oin October 16-17, 2013 in Bratislava, was organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Slovak Aid. Its aim was to stimulate a professional dialogue between the governmental, non – governmental, academic and private sectors and media on lessons learnt and future orientation of Slovakia’s development cooperation program. The Conference was addressed by H.E. Miroslav Lajcak, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and by H.E. Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development.
The first day was dedicated to following subjects: Slovakia and Western Balkans: Sharing Transition Experience, Slovak – African Development cooperation: Past and Future, and Shared Values and Cooperation with the Eastern Partnership Countries. Our Institute was represented by Ms Jana Radakovic the second day at the discussion panel entitled: Western Balkans and the future opportunities for Development Assistance.
Undoubtedly, the Conference brought up innovative ideas and new prospects for the Slovak ODA. However, Serbia as a leader in the Region, and the largest recipient of the Slovak ODA could have played more productive role, if speakers from Serbian government or parliament were there. We are sure it would contribute to better quality discussion on effectiveness and vision of Slovak ODA in Serbia for the upcoming period.
